OAKWOOD, VA (FEBRUARY 9, 2024) – The Appalachian College of Pharmacy, in partnership with Buchanan General Hospital and Appalachian Family Care will be providing free vital heart screenings next week.
No appointment is needed for the screenings planned for February 18, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Jack & Judy Room above the Deli at Food City in Vansant.
“February is heart month and ACP is pleased to be partnering with Buchanan General Hospital and Appalachian Family Care to offer these free screening services in our community,” said ACP Provost and Dean Susan Mayhew.
Free services to be provided by the Appalachian College of Pharmacy include screenings for Diabetic A1c, Blood Glucose, Blood Pressure, Flu Shots, Height, Weight, Body Mass Index and healthy heart counseling.
Services provided by Buchanan General Hospital include a voucher for cholesterol screening valued at $322 to be performed free. Total cholesterol will be measured for HDL, LDL and Triglycerides.
